Event ranking includes the worlds top 30 amateur tournaments for 2007.

Event ranking is based on the number of top 10 in world ranked amateurs, top 100 and top 200 in the world player ranking as of the start of each tournament.

The "field score" column is compiled where each top 10 player is deemed worth 3 points, 11 to 100 gets 2 points and 101 to 200 gets 1 point.

The rounds factortakes into consideration all stroke & match rounds.  As a general rule, the more rounds played means the stronger the event all other factors equal.

The start sizefactor is primarily those starting at the championship with significant consideration for total entries received for the USGA events which has extensive total entries and qualifying at many locations nationalAs a general rule, the larger the start field, the stronger the event all other factors equal.

The R&A event ranking as of November of 07 is provided as a means of comparison.

SPWAR finish position points assigned do not directly correspond to this event ranking as this ranking is just for the preceding years eventsSPWAR finish position points are generally based on an events average field stats over the preceding three years.

SPWAR finish position points have been adjusted based on this current event ranking.

There are obviously many other amateur events outside the USA that would be included in any event ranking list expanded to include the world’s top 50, top 100, etcThere are many other national, regional or state level events in the USA that would also appear in any top 100 list in the world.  After 2007, the SPWAR completely replaced Golfweeks mens amateur ranking that existed prior to 2008.  Any event rank list updated for 2008 & thereafter will reflect all amateur events worldwide

The 08 & thereafter event ranking will be upgraded in that the field quality measure will be expanded as follows:

– 5 points for a top 10 ranked am

– 4 points for ranking of 11-50

– 3 points for ranking of 51-100

– 2 points for ranking of 101-200

– 1 point for ranking of 201-500
