Player		From		1st	2nd	3rd	Total	The 2000 Scratch Players Championship (SPC) included a very strong amateur field from California and Nevada and was the best inaugural amateur field in California history (see ’00 Player Profiles). It was contested under excellent weather conditions with the event receiving universal praise from the players (via written questionnaire responses) as a precision run, top quality amateur competition. The objective of obtaining national/world “top tier” status and Golfweek World Amateur Ranking Player Points (for 2001) in the 2nd year was achieved. The champion, Josh Levin (who turned pro after the SPC), was awarded an engraved Waterford bowl. The Ridge GC was designed by the renowned RT Jones II, is par 71, rated 72.2, sloped at 137 and is 6734 yards from the back tees at about 1500’ elevation. The Ridge has proved to be a difficult but appropriate test for tournament scratch amateur players. It hosted the NCGA Sacramento Valley Amateur in ’01 (NCGA major event) & was ranked #20 in Northern Cal by the Scratch Players Group as determined via written balloting from 200 pro and tournament scratch amateur players from throughout Northern California & Northern Nevada in 1998; the most comprehensive, accurate and unbiased ranking of such courses ever undertaken (see Ranking).
