Private Accommodations (free housing as guests in private homes)

The SPSA will make arrangements for “private accommodations” (code language for free housing meeting USGA Rules of Amateur Status criteria) for a limited number of contestants playing in the tournament.  It is estimated that no more than 5 contestants will be extended such “free” housing by SPMA hosts who are primarily Stockton or Lodi residents.  Priority goes to contestants only who are flying in for the tournament.  Again, private housing is for contestants only exclusive of any relatives, spouses, caddies or any other non-contestant.  The “pecking order” generally goes to those traveling the furthest.  The SPSA “guarantees” private accommodations to any contestant flying in who is from outside the western USA meeting stipulated SPSA invitation criteria.

  Weather

Click HERE for the current and 10 day local weather forecast for Valley Springs, CA Early October is traditionally the "prime time" weather-wise for the year.  The average high temperature in early October has been 80° with the average low about 54°.  It is reasonable to expect likely temperatures during tournament play to be between 60° and 85°.

The possibility of rainfall is unlikely but possible with the average level of precipitation in the first week of October of about .25".  It can get a tad cool in the early morning so having sweaters or the like is prudent and proper length shorts are permitted so plan attire needs accordingly and bring rain gear just in case.  The course elevation is at about 200 ft.  During the SPMA, sunrise will be about 7:03 and sunset about 6:46.  The first tee time each day is 7:30AM and the last time during any round is no later than 2:06PM (weather permitting).
