The 2001 SPC was scheduled for early October at Whitehawk Ranch GC north of Lake Tahoe, CA.

It was cancelled in the aftermath of the 9/11.

Notwithstanding, the SPC was awarded Golfweek Amateur Ranking points commencing in 2002. 

As such, the tournament was moved to the summer and late June of ‘02.
