The nearest major commercial airport is Oakland or San Francisco International which are both about 85 minutes from the SPMA venue. The airlines servicing Oakland are: Alaska, Aloha, American, Continental, Delta, Hawaiian, JetBlue, Mexicana, Southwest (Hub), TACA, United, United Express and US Airways. The number of airlines servicing San Francisco are far to large to list here. The Santa Rosa airport has few commercial flights but some.
All such carriers can be accessed online for schedules, pricing, etc. via the link to the right. OAK & SFO are the only airports the SPMA provides complementary shuttle service. The next two closest major commercial airports are Sacramento & San Jose. Sacramento is about 120 miles away and San Jose is about 108 miles away.

Private Accommodations (free housing as guests in homes) The SPMA will make arrangements for “private accommodations” (code language for free housing meeting USGA Rules of Amateur Status criteria) for a limited number of contestants playing in the tournament. It is estimated that no more than 10 contestants will be extended such “free” housing by SPMA hosts who are primarily Mayacama members. Priority goes to contestants only who are flying in for the tournament. Again, private housing is for contestants only, exclusive of any relatives, spouses, caddies or any other non-contestant. The “pecking order” generally goes to those traveling the furthest. The SPMA “guarantees” private accommodations to any contestant flying in who is from outside the western USA meeting stipulated SPMA invitation criteria. |

Weather | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Click HERE for the current and 10 day local weather forecast for Santa Rosa, CA. Latter March is transitionally weather-wise for the year. The average high temperature in the latter part of March has been 67° with the average low about 46°. It is reasonable to expect likely temperatures during tournament play to be between 75° and 50°. The possibility of rainfall is unlikely but distinct with the average level of precipitation in the third week of March of about .9". It can get a tad cool in the early morning so having sweaters or the like is prudent and proper length shorts are permitted so plan attire needs accordingly and bring rain gear just in case. The course elevation is a tad above sea level. During the SPMA, sunrise will be about 7:10 and sunset about 7:25. The first tee time each day is 8:00AM and the last time during any round is no later than 2:10PM (weather permitting). |
